Application Process
Step 1: Interest Form
The online interest form takes about thirty minutes and provides CYMT with general information and data about your church or ministry. The interest form does not commit your church or ministry to formally applying; it simply indicates your interest in learning more. CYMT will contact you within three business days of receiving and reviewing your form. At this point, we can answer any questions you have as you decide whether or not to proceed to Step 2 of the application process.
Step 2: Congregational Survey, Memorandum of Understanding, & Application Fee
To make a formal application to the Center for Youth Ministry Training Partner Ministry program, your church or ministry must complete a congregational survey. This survey will broaden CYMT’s understanding of the congregation or your ministries context and help discern whether or not your church or ministry is a good fit for our program. You will select six to eight people from your congregation or ministry to complete an online survey. The survey will take them approximately thirty minutes.
Your church or organizational leadership must sign the Memorandum of Understanding acknowledging your understanding of the expectations of Partner Ministries during the program. You will be asked to submit a copy of your current budget and your child protection policy. Finally, you will be required to pay a $350 application fee.
Here are example Memorandum of Understanding documents that list requirements for partner ministries.
Example MOU for Partner Ministries of Placement track reidents (ministries hiring a youth minister through CYMT)
Example MOU for Partner Ministries of Professional Education track residents (ministries who already have a youth minister)
Step 3: Congregational Interview
A CYMT staff person will come and interview your congregation or ministry and its leadership to learn even more about your context, needs, and to ensure congregational buy-in to the CYMT partnership. Within ten business days of the onsite interview, CYMT will inform you whether or not it will be accepted and begin the formal matching process.
Step 4: Placement
CYMT will work diligently to find a good match for your congregation or ministry. Submission of the formal affiliation agreement between CYMT and the church or ministry and receipt of the initial payment are both required prior to meeting a recommended candidate for your ministry.
