Job Description:

Purpose:  The Director of Youth Ministries cultivates inclusive relationships with all middle & high school students and develops engaging faith-based activities to sustain a lifelong relationship with Christ and all who follow Him. 

Qualifications:

  • The Director of Youth Ministries is expected to live a lifestyle that brings honor to Christ and to the Lebanon FUMC, to participate as a team player with the rest of the staff, and to abide by the personnel policies in the Lebanon FUMC Policies and Procedures Manual. 
  • Sense of calling to youth ministry and a commitment to Christ.
  • Understanding of and commitment to United Methodist theology and practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with the social, emotional, and spiritual development of teenagers.
  • Ability to work productively with a diversity of youth, families, and church members
  • A positive and welcoming personality
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • Professional demeanor and attitude
  • General knowledge of church office operations
  • Basic technical knowledge

Major Job Duties:

  • Provide opportunities of enrichment in faith development for middle and high school students.
  • Recruit, train, and support Sunday School teachers for Middle & High School classes.
  • Plan and Lead Sunday and Mid-week ministries for students.
  • Develop or select educational curricula for youth programs
  • Ensure that all students, parents, and leaders are properly informed.
  • Provide small group settings for teens in the youth group who desire to go deeper in their faith to promote bonding, accountability, and discipleship among their peers
  • Organize and lead mission trips, retreats, service projects, etc.
  • Facilitate and oversee the Youth Council, Volunteers, and Sunday School teachers.
  • Plan and lead youth and adult team members in special programs.
  • Visit schools for performances, sporting events, etc., showing a special effort to be involved in their lives and circumstances.
  • Steward and effectively manage an annually allocated ministry budget.
  • Provide content for the church website and youth social media pages.
  • Strictly adhere to all Safe Sanctuary/Spaces Policies and Procedures.
  • Weekly attendance at worship services.
  • Attend Weekly Staff, quarterly Thrive Team and Church Council Meetings.

Salary Range:

$50,000
