St. Mark’s is located on the reservoir side of Brandon, MS, close to Flowood and the community middle and high schools. We have three services including a contemporary worship service, with congregants spanning every age group. We have a very vibrant  youth ministry, offering Sunday School, and Wednesday and Sunday night activities. Job Description:

Director of Youth Ministries

Compensation: 

$50,000/year for stand-alone youth director position

$60,000/yr for combination full-time Youth Director/Worship Leader position.(See Worship leader job description below this one.)

Overview: To plan, administer, coordinate, supervise and evaluate a comprehensive and active Student Ministry for students in grades 6-12. Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities and Duties:

§  Develop and cast vision for a comprehensive discipleship program including fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, evangelism, and service/mission opportunities for students in grades 6-12.

§  Teach and train students in the knowledge of the Lord, leading them to be committed followers of Christ.

§  Recruit, train, motivate and encourage a team of adult volunteers for the Youth ministry.

§  Organize and lead retreats, camps, mission trips and special events.

§  Develop and oversee weekly Sunday school, Sunday PM and Wednesday night spiritual development opportunities for students.

§  Provide pastoral care/counsel to youth and families (hospital visits, etc.)

§  Develop, oversee and implement a Student Leadership Team (SALT)

§  Develop and oversee an adult Youth Council

§  Organize and oversee comprehensive Confirmation program

§  Organize and oversee fundraisers for Youth ministry

§  Effectively communicate and promote the Youth ministry

§  Serve as corporate worship leader when requested

§  Function as part of a growing team to implement the vision of S.t Mark’s Build relationships/support students, attend sporting events, etc.

§  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

§  Strong commitment to their Christian faith

§  Commitment or to Wesleyan Theology and the United Methodist Church

§  Proven experience in student ministry leadership

§  Preferred Bachelor’s Degree, either earned or in progress, but willing to consider both education and experience.

§  Leadership abilities with a demonstrated history of sound judgment

§  Knowledge and experience with the social, emotional, and spiritual development of youth

§  Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing

Abilities:

§  A pastor’s heart for developing youth to love Christ with their whole heart. Ordination is not a requirement.

§  Contagious love for the Lord and people

§  Skilled in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships

§  A team player with a Philippians 2, Christ filled attitude.

§  Able to work in a multi-staff environment and to recruit/train adult leaders

§  Positive attitude, contagious passion

§  Self-starter and innovative

Support:

The pastoral staff, the staff parish relations committee, and the praise team, will be available to support the contemporary praise team leader.

This full-time position is exempt.

 

Contemporary Worship Leader

Overview: To lead the praise team and the contemporary worship congregation of St. Mark’s in song/music.

Responsibilities and Duties:

§  Give God the glory that He deserves with a gathered family of believers in song.

§  Make disciples of Jesus Christ who express their devotion to Him through music.

§  Create an atmosphere of unashamed corporate worshipers.

§  Identify, encourage, and train gifted, competent and confident musicians among the faith family of St. Mark’s.

§  Encourage unbelievers, as well as unchurched men, women, boys and girls to become Christ followers and active members in the life of St. Mark’s

§  Help bring a sense of unity between all three Sunday morning worshiping congregations during specific times of the church year.

§  Engage others in worship through song, prayer, Scripture and transitional elements.

§  Lead worship musically with instrument of preference (be that vocal instrument, keyboard, guitar, etc).

§  Partner with the traditional service worship pastor for special services.

§  Being available, if needed, to encourage the youth praise team.

§  Lead worship team practice

§  Select songs that correlate with the sermon/Scripture

Qualifications:

§  A clear testimony of faith in the Jesus Christ of the Christian Bible, an understanding of the Gospel, and a vital, obvious, growing relationship with God.

§  Commitment to the moral purity that the Bible presents and to that which the United Methodist Book of Discipline upholds.

§  Commitment to the mission, vision, and worship philosophy of Saint Mark’s UMC.

§  Demonstrates excellence as a worship leader.

§  A heart for the spiritual formation of the congregation and the worship ministry.

§  Relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for the church in song.

§  Skilled in choral, vocal and instrumental direction

§  Skilled in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships

§  Skilled in the use of technology in worship and in the use of sound, lighting, computers, ProPresenter and video projection

§  Ability to incorporate other art forms of media as needed

§  A self-starter

§  A team player with a Philippians 2, Christ-filled attitude

Support:

The leader will have the opportunity to be a part of a small group (Sunday school, or other) as he or she desires. The pastoral staff, the staff parish relations committee, and the praise team, will be available to support the contemporary praise team leader.

Salary Range:

$50,000-60,000
