Job Description:

POSITION FOCUS: Build, equip, support, and implement the faith formation ministries for children, youth, and families at Shepherd of the Hills and Butterfly Christian Preschool

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop and lead ministry opportunities for children (birth through 5th grade) and youth (6th through 12th grade and beyond)
  • Build connections with families & parents, as well as ShepHills community to empower, encourage, and partner in faith formation ministry
  • Recruit and equip creative, passionate leaders for Faith Formation Ministry Team, and work alongside this team to develop and implement programming
  • Work with pastors to develop robust sacramental preparation (Baptism and Holy Communion) as well as Milestone Ministry
  • Collaborate with pastors to further develop and lead Confirmation ministry
  • Develop and strengthen retreat ministry for all ages
  • Strengthen connections between Butterfly Christian Preschool & Shepherd of the Hills
  • Develop and lead Christian education offerings for young people (Sunday School & more); recruit leaders, specify curriculum, supplies and other resources
  • Envision and lead creative ways to involve and engage children & youth in worship
  • Lead, coordinate, and attend summer trips, retreats, and camp for children & youth
  • Develop ministry & connections with young adults

SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS:

The ideal candidate will have a master’s or bachelor’s degree, preferably in the field of theology, Christian education, or children’s/youth ministry.  Those with commensurate ministry experience may also be considered.  Other skills & characteristics required are:

  • Comfortable in and gifted for a leadership role that is visionary and inspiring
  • Takes initiative and balances working independently with teamwork
  • Creative, innovative, and comfortable working in all forms of digital & social media
  • Strong organizational & planning skills, along with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Trustworthy and honest; respects others and sets appropriate boundaries
  • Exudes a positive outlook; brings joy and good humor to relationships

Salary Range:

60,000-65,000
