Cultivate your youth ministry

CYMT partners with churches and non-profit ministries from multiple denominations within a four-hour radius of Nashville, TN and Austin, TX to place incoming graduate residents for 3 years of practicum as youth ministers. In addition to the placement of the graduate resident in the church or ministry, CYMT equips partner churches and ministries with the tools necessary to develop sustainable youth ministries and walks alongside them over the 3-year program.

Application checklist
and requirements

The Center for Youth Ministry Training takes seriously the placement of our residents and desires to partner with churches and non-profit ministries who are actively engaged in enhancing their ministry to and with youth. Churches and ministries will be accepted to the program based on their readiness to meet our partnership expectations. Acceptance is always conditional on finding a good match in the placement process. CYMT recommends that churches or ministries begin the application process in the fall in preparation for a summer placement.

STEP 1: INTEREST FORM

The online interest form takes about thirty minutes and provides CYMT with general information and data about your church or ministry. The interest form does not commit your church or ministry to formally applying; it simply indicates your interest in learning more. CYMT will contact you within three business days of receiving and reviewing your form. At this point, we can answer any questions you have as you decide whether or not to proceed to Step 2 of the process.

STEP 2: CONGREGATIONAL SURVEY, MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING, & APPLICATION FEE

To make a formal application to the Center for Youth Ministry Training Partner or Training Church program, your church or ministry must complete a congregational survey. This survey will broaden CYMT’s understanding of the congregation or your ministries context and help discern whether or not your church or ministry would be a good fit for our program. You will select six to eight people from your congregation or ministry to complete an online survey. The survey will take them approximately thirty minutes.

Your leadership must sign the Memorandum of Understanding acknowledging your understanding of the expectations of churches and ministries during the program. You will be asked to submit a copy of your current budget and your child protection policy. Finally, you will be required to pay a $350 application fee.

STEP 3: CONGREGATIONAL INTERVIEW

A CYMT staff person will come and interview your congregation and leadership to learn even more about your church’s or ministry’s context and needs and to ensure congregational buy-in to the CYMT partnership. Within ten business days of the onsite interview, CYMT will inform the church or ministry whether or not it will be accepted and begin the formal matching process.

STEP 4: PLACEMENT

CYMT will work diligently to find a good match for your congregation or ministry. Submission of the formal affiliation agreement between CYMT and the church or ministry and receipt of the initial payment are both required prior to meeting our recommended candidate for your ministry.

Important dates & costs
