Position Title: Director of Families with Youth
Position reports to: Associate Pastor (Children and Youth Ministries)
Position relates to: Senior Pastor, Director of Families with Tweens and Adult Council on Youth Ministries (ACYM)
Responsible for the framework and delivery of programs and experiences that participating Youth (Grades 6 through 12) engage to build/ enhance their discipleship and faith. Foundations of this framework are developing the skills, knowledge and confidence to master faith connections, servant leadership, relationships and essential faith practices. As director, the individual needs to demonstrate advanced collaboration, connective and communication skills to be the effective leader needed.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Include:
Collaborate with Ministerial, Staff, ACYM and Laity leadership to continuously enliven the strategies, framework, programs and experiences of FUMC Grapevine’s Youth initiatives.
Cultivate a network of parent and laity volunteers to provide support to the programs and experiences of each Youth participant, including coordination of all necessary volunteer certifications and training to ensure success.
Oversee and lead the development of a curriculum and the related delivery processes that provides a strong biblical foundation opportunity for each youth participant.
Oversee and lead a youth leadership development program that provides educational learnings, relevant practice applications and strong leader modelling.
Oversee and lead a youth connective relationship skills program which provides educational learnings, multi-generational practice applications and communication skills development.
Oversee and lead the development of a curriculum, their related delivery processes and relevant practice applications that provides a diverse faith practices development opportunity for each youth participant.
Collaborate with CTCYM (or other organizations), staff, laity, parents and volunteers to lead local, national and international youth missions.
Design and implement mechanisms and processes to measure the effectiveness and stakeholder affinity of the youth programs / initiatives.
Develop and manage the annual youth ministries budget
Other duties as assigned.
Spiritually mature believer in a vital, growing relationship with Christ expressed in a commitment to humble, servant leadership. Possesses a heart for the local church and the wider kingdom of God.
Associate degree is required, Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in youth program management or church ministries is required.
Membership and participation in the life of the church is required to give the best
understanding and insight into the church and its mission.
Individual must demonstrate innovative communication skills with a strong array of connectional/ relationship capabilities.
Prior experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders is required.
Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and exhibits a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations.
Prior experience in a weekend ministry service preferred.
A passion, calling and heart for evangelism, missions and youth development is required.
Bilingual skills (Spanish) is a plus.
The work environment is a professional office arrangement. As a church, it is important to convey a serving attitude and accommodating spirit to our members, guests and other people who interact with the church. This is a full-time position with irregular hours fitted around the activities of the youth programs.
Some travel (including International travel) is required to lead many of the youth programs and participant experiences.
