Church Partnerships

The CYMT vision is to equip local churches with the tools necessary to build strong foundations for youth ministry.

The CYMT accomplishes this vision by partnering with local congregations who need youth directors or who are seeking training for their current youth staff. There are two types of church partnerships described below:

Partner Church

A Partner Church is a church seeking one of our Student Interns to serve as their youth director for the next two years. The commitment is a two-year partnership that combines veteran youth ministry coaching with an energetic student intern to lead your youth ministry.

The CYMT is currently accepting applications for the 2007-09 partner churches. 6 churches will be accepted to the program that will provide each church:

  • A 25-hour a week Student Intern to lead their youth ministry program OR Graduate Level Training for their current staff
  • Veteran Youth Ministry Support from the CYMT staff
  • Monthly Onsite Coaching from CYMT staff working with each church’s youth ministry team to build a foundation for effective youth ministry including:
    • Strategic Planning
    • Vision & Goal Setting
    • Volunteer Recruitment and Training
    • Curriculum Design and Planning
  • Creation of an infrastructure to support the long term effectiveness and growth of the youth program

Church Commitment

In exchange for receiving staffing and coaching for building an effective youth ministry, each partner church agrees to a commitment of $20,000 in the first year and $25,000 in the second year paid to the Center for Youth Ministry Training. This commitment will cover student stipends and all training expenses. Churches are also expected to provide housing for their student intern. See the Partner Church requirements for more information on housing expectations. Click here for a list of Partner Church requirements.

Note: Churches outside of a 25 mile radius of Nashville have additional mileage requirements that are outlined in the Partne Church requirements.

Training Church

A two-year graduate level training program for your youth ministry staff and veteran youth ministry coaching for your local church.

Training Partner Churches already have a full time youth staff person, but seek training for that individual and coaching for their youth ministry. These churches will agree to pay an annual commitment of $10,000 to the Center for Youth Ministry Training for one youth ministry staff person's tuition and for monthly coaching from the CYMT during the two-year training period. In addition to the finacial commitment the church will be expected to meet the following requirements for acceptance into the program. In addition to the finacial commitment the church will be expected to meet certain requirements acceptance into the program. Click here for a list of Training Church Requirements.

Application Deadline - March 31, 2008

Churches desiring to participate in the CYMT program must apply to the admissions committee by April 30 of the year they desire to begin their partnerships. Students begin working in their church settings on June 1 or August 1 of that year. Churches applying to be partner churches are selected on a first-come first-serve basis and are interviewed by the director to ensure that all partner churches have a will meet the above requirements. The board of directors will annually craft and/or revise the specific expectations for the partnering churches.

Church Grants

The CYMT recommends checking with your local conference, diecese, prebytery, etc. to see if they provide any grant money for new positions in your church. Below are the grants that we are aware of that might help fund a student intern.
